I had a fun yet mixed experience at Newgate Hotel. The location was fantastic, right next to shops and nightlife, which was a major plus for our group. However, the rooms definitely showed signs of needing a makeover, with some cleanliness issues and outdated furnishings that brought the experience down a notch.

Rooms
5.0
The room I stayed in was adequate but definitely ripe for an upgrade. The furnishings felt worn, and cleanliness was an issue. I noticed some broken fixtures and outdated bathroom features that could use a good scrubbing and updating.
Service
6.0
The front desk staff were polite and friendly, but we did face some bumps along the way, like the lifts being out of order which made lugging our stuff up to the fourth floor a bit of a hassle.
Location
8.0
The hotel’s location is its selling point. Stepping out of reception, I was right in the middle of the action, close to all the shops and the nightlife, which was perfect for us as a group looking to enjoy our time in Newcastle.
Dining
6.0
Breakfast was a casual experience up on the sixth floor, and although it wasn’t fancy, it was decent enough. I liked that it offered a variety without feeling rushed, which made for a relaxed morning vibe.
Facilities
5.0
Basic facilities, nothing fancy but functional. While the bar seemed lively and fun, I must say the overall ambiance felt like it needs a facelift to keep up with the vibrant atmosphere outside.

The location of the Newgate Hotel was absolutely fantastic, with shops and nightlife just a couple of minutes away. However, almost everything else about my stay was disappointing. The staff were not very helpful, and the rooms were small and shabby, lacking proper cleanliness. This is not what I expected for the price paid, especially since the facilities were lacking and the overall condition of the hotel seemed dated.

Rooms
5.0
My room was small, shabby, and a bit dated. I was hoping for at least a comfortable stay, but it felt like it needed some serious refurbishment. The shower barely worked, and the overall condition of the room left much to be desired.
Service
5.0
Although the reception staff were polite, they seemed overwhelmed and unhelpful at times, especially during check-in and check-out. I encountered issues that could have been managed more effectively, like the lack of available keycards and the cash bond requirement without prior notice.
Location
6.0
The hotel’s location is its strongest point, being so close to shops and vibrant nightlife. It was great for my group as we could easily step out and enjoy the city without needing transport.

Facilities were lacking, especially with the lifts being out of order, which was a hassle. It felt like the hotel wasn't well-maintained, and there were signs of neglect everywhere, including dirty areas and furniture in need of repair.

My stay at Newgate Hotel had its ups and downs. The location near Newcastle's nightlife was unbeatable, making it easy to enjoy a vibrant night out. However, I was disappointed with the service, particularly the rude reception staff and shabbily maintained rooms. While I appreciated the lively bar atmosphere, the overall experience felt quite chaotic and not particularly welcoming. I'd consider returning mainly for its prime location, but I wouldn't recommend it for a relaxing getaway. 🙁🎉

The room I stayed in was fine, though it felt a bit dated and shabby. The beds were comfortable, allowing for a decent night's sleep, but the bathroom needed some serious updating. It was rather dirty and had a broken showerhead, which affected my overall experience.
Service
5.0
I found the reception service to be quite rude, both during check-in and check-out. It was frustrating, especially after a long journey. The lifts were out of order, which meant hauling my bags up three flights of stairs. I would have appreciated a more welcoming attitude from the staff.
Location

The location was absolutely fantastic! Right in the heart of Newcastle's nightlife, it was easy to stumble back after a night out, which I loved. This was definitely the highlight of my stay.
Dining

I didn't have much of a dining experience here, but I did enjoy the lively bar vibe, which was great for socializing. The atmosphere was really vibrant, especially at night when it was packed with people.
Facilities

Facilities were pretty basic. The hotel had a bar that was fun and cheerful, but the overall condition of the hotel was quite shabby, which detracted from the experience.

I had a mixed experience at Newgate Hotel. The location was fantastic, just minutes away from shops and nightlife. however, the hotel itself left much to be desired. The staff were friendly, but the rooms were small and dated, and I faced issues with the check-in process due to a cash bond requirement that I wasn't informed about beforehand.

Rooms

My room was quite shabby and lacked basic cleanliness. The bathroom was old, with a toilet that felt unsanitary. and the shower had very low pressure. Overall, it didn’t meet my expectations at the rates charged.
Service

The staff members were polite and friendly, which was a highlight of my stay. However, the service felt overwhelmed, especially at check-in, with only a few staff on duty during busy hours.

The location was absolutely fantastic, with shops and nightlife just a short walk away. that truly made it convenient for exploring the city.
Dining

Although I didn’t dine at the hotel restaurant, I sensed a casual vibe that could be appealing for breakfast. It seemed like an inviting space, but cleanliness would be a concern for some.

Unfortunately, the lift was out of order during my stay which made navigating due to my luggage quite a hassle. Additionally, the state of the building felt dated and in need of refurbishment.

My stay at Newgate Hotel Newcastle had its ups and downs. The location was truly unbeatable, right in the thick of the city's nightlife, making it easy to explore. Unfortunately, the hotel's overall condition felt outdated and lacking in cleanliness. The staff were friendly, but the experience was marred by maintenance issues and an old-fashioned room.

Rooms
5.0
The room was a bit shabby and dated. The bathroom really needed a good scrub and the toilet wasn't up to standard. There were definitely signs of wear and tear, but the beds were reasonably comfy despite some noises.
Service
6.0
Reception staff were generally polite and helpful, though they seemed overwhelmed at times, especially during breakfast. They were accommodating with our luggage after checkout, which was a nice touch.
Location
9.0
The hotel's location is its standout feature. Right near shops and nightlife, making it a perfect base for a fun weekend.
Dining
5.0
Breakfast was chaotic. There were too many guests and not enough food, which meant I had to queue several times. When I did get food, the quality was okay, but the service could really use some improvement.
Facilities
5.0
The hotel had basic amenities but felt quite outdated overall. The lift was out of service during my stay, which was inconvenient having to climb several flights of stairs with my luggage.
